Responses of the Lodging Resistance of Indica Rice Cultivars to Temperature and Solar Radiation under Field Conditions

Much attention has shifted to the effects of temperature and solar radiation on rice production grain quality due global climate change. Meanwhile, lodging is a major cause yield losses. However, responses resistance are still unclear. To decipher mechanisms through which might be affected by radiation, 32 cultivars with different were grown at two eco-sites three sowing dates over period years. Based field observation, 12 indica did not lodge selected for analysis. Significant differences found in treatments. The results showed that was main factor under conditions this study. With increased average daily temperature, decreased rapidly, primarily significant reduction physical strength culm, attributed longer thinner basal second internode. Among cultivars, lodging-moderate cultivar Chuanxiang 29B most sensitive lodging-resistant Jiangan least responsive temperature.
